			Le 30 juin 2013, Adam Keefe a mis un terme à sa carrière dans la LHSBA, concluant un parcours des plus inhabituels, surtout dans son dernier mois d'activité. Son histoire n'est pas celle des statistiques, mais celle d'un joueur dont la réputation et le rôle très spécifique ont défini sa valeur.

			Reconnu avant tout comme un redoutable homme fort, comme en témoigne sa note quasi parfaite de 96 en combat (FG), Keefe incarnait le rôle de l'intimidateur. Sa carrière sur la glace fut extrêmement brève, se limitant à un seul match au niveau professionnel avec les Flyers et un autre au niveau farm. Sa contribution n'était pas destinée à la feuille de pointage, mais bien à la protection de ses coéquipiers.

			C'est durant le mois de juin 2013 que sa carrière a pris une tournure mouvementée. Le 25 mai, il signait un contrat de deux ans avec les Flyers, une marque de confiance significative envers son rôle de spécialiste. Moins d'un mois plus tard, le 14 juin, il était impliqué dans un échange majeur avec les Black Hawks, avant d'être retourné aux Flyers le même jour, démontrant que son contrat était un atout de valeur dans les négociations.

			Seize jours seulement après ces transactions, il a surpris le monde du hockey en annonçant sa retraite. Adam Keefe quitte le sport en laissant l'image d'un joueur dont la valeur dépassait largement ses statistiques, un véritable enforcer dont le dernier chapitre en carrière fut aussi rapide qu'insolite.
