			Le 14 mai 2017, Alexandre Picard a mis un terme à sa carrière, concluant un parcours de six saisons marqué par une loyauté indéfectible envers l'organisation des Penguins. Il se retire en laissant l'image d'un défenseur complet, qui a été à la fois un leader offensif et une force physique intimidante pour le club-école de l'équipe.

			Durant six saisons, Picard a été la pierre angulaire de la brigade défensive du club-école des Penguins. En '''411 matchs''' à ce niveau, il s'est imposé comme un véritable quart-arrière, amassant un impressionnant total de '''301 points'''. Ses multiples saisons de 50 points et plus témoignent de son statut de dynamo offensive depuis la ligne bleue.

			Mais son jeu ne se limitait pas à la finesse. Picard était également un compétiteur féroce et physique, comme en attestent sa note d'élite de 85 en mise en échec (CK) et ses '''702 minutes de pénalité'''. Il était le type de joueur que ses coéquipiers adoraient et que ses adversaires détestaient affronter.

			Leader vétéran respecté (LD 82), il a obtenu plusieurs rappels au niveau professionnel au fil des ans, une récompense pour sa constance et son dévouement. Son efficacité s'est également transportée en séries éliminatoires, où il a récolté 15 points en 19 rencontres au niveau farm, prouvant qu'il était un joueur des grands moments.

			Alexandre Picard ne se retire peut-être pas avec une longue fiche au niveau pro, mais son impact en tant que leader, producteur de points et protecteur pour le club-école des Penguins pendant six ans est indéniable. Il a été un véritable pilier de l'organisation.
